This customised modular house in San Cugat, Barcelona has a total of 425 m² spread over two floors. An industrialised house based on luxury, with an oriental, minimalist style that highlights its warm materials and technological wood.

The concept of this industrialised house was created by adapting one of our catalogue modular houses, the Heidelberg model, to an aesthetic and a façade that could be adapted to the plot available to the clients.

The clients wanted a house with an L-shaped floor plan, but the topography of their plot did not allow for this. For this reason, it was decided to imitate the aesthetics of the Heidelberg model, but to build with a linear structure. To emphasise this structure and underline the aesthetics of the modular house, distinctive slabs were used.

Customised modular house in San Cugat, design and elegance

The outdoor area of the prefabricated house consists of a chill-out area with a garden and a swimming pool. The canopies also play an important role in integrating the house into the landscape. They share the space with the trees and the garden, while creating a play of light and shade that extends the landscape and the outdoor area. In addition, there are two entrances to the house, the main entrance with a revolving door and another entrance through the garage.

Inside the modular house we find an open-plan living-dining room. These two rooms are only minimally separated by a fireplace in the centre of the living room.

For the clients, the feeling of spaciousness in the house is crucial, as their previous residences offered more space than the current property.

There are also two offices, 2 bathrooms and a toilet, as well as a laundry room, which has been adapted in case the house is rented out in the future, so that this laundry room can be replaced by a utility room.

A sophisticated interior design for a customised modular house

The interior design of this industrialised house adapts to the surroundings of the plot on which it is built. For this reason, the large windows and skylights are key elements in all the rooms, even the most intimate ones.

As can be seen, the bathroom consists of a free-standing bathtub, an open shower tray and a skylight that brings completely natural light into the room, creating a connection between the landscape and the interior design and allowing more light to enter the rooms.

The kitchen offers a wide view of the outside thanks to a large panoramic window. This element not only fills this important space with natural light, but also gives it a prominent meaning.

Customisation of a modular house by inHAUS

Customised modular house in San Cugat, Barcelona

The design of this prefabricated house in Barcelona reflects the owners’ desire for customisation. The floor plan of this detached house has a linear aesthetic. To emphasise this aesthetic, the floor slabs are a key element that lends volume to the façade of the house.

The variety of materials used on the façade blends harmoniously with the landscape and the interior design of the house. The ceramic cladding and the use of technological wood stand out without diminishing the importance of other decorative structural elements such as the pillars.

Plan and layout

Comfort on two levels

The realisation of this project went through various phases. First, one of the models from our catalogue of 111 modular houses, the Heidelberg model, was used as a starting point. This design consists of an L-shaped floor plan, but due to the characteristics of the client’s plot, a linear structure was designed to optimise the use of the plot. This structure, together with the panels of the façade and the verandas, gives volume to the house and connects its characteristics with the surroundings.
